Schloss Charlottenburg

My weekend starts on Friday since we have class Monday-Thursday :) Unfortunately is has been prettttttty chilly and windy, but we decided to go see the largest castle in Berlin, the Schloss Charlottenburg.  Amanda and I were talking about doing some touristy things over the weekend during class and a classmate, Hans, informed us of a few things that we could do.  He is from Taiwan and came to Germany in high school for an exchange program so he is a little more experienced than us :).  We were planning on going to see the castle and the Brandenburg Gate, and he said he would join us.  Our friend Fei lives in Charlettenburg so we called her and asked if she wanted to come too! So Hans, Amanda and I met at Alexanderplatz and grabbed a bite to eat.  While we were in the big Station (they have the S-Bahn and U-bahn inside so it is very busy) Hans saw a Gypsy and started telling Amanda and I about how they come up to you with a piece of paper usually a larger piece of cardboard and ask if you speak English.  The paper has writing on it saying something about how they need help. Then they get closer to you with the sign and someone walks up and steals your money while you are distracted reading.  RIGHT as Hans finished telling us that a woman and her child walked up and held out a piece of paper asking if we speak English!!!!!!!  Talk about IRONIC!!!!!!  and verrrrrry funny.  Amanda and I couldn't help but laugh and we were saying how awesome that was (because he just finished telling the story and then she came up immediately after) and I guess the woman got mad at us because we were laughing and saying how awesome that was, and she started screaming at us!!!!!  Such a great time!  So then we went up to the platform and got on the train to meet Fei in Charlottenburg.  We told her we were on our way and she told us to catch a bus when we got off the train. So we first couldn't find the bus stop for the bus we needed, walked around for a while, finally found it and then saw that it didn't come for another 20 min (and we just missed the last one by 2 min).  So it was freeeeeezing outside and everything was closed because it was Easter weekend, and we were stuck outside!!!!  We finally caught the bus after missing the first one due to us standing in a phone booth for warmth and getting a snack from a place a few blocks away!!!!!! Finally made it to the castle and met up with Fei, it was freezing cold and the sky was kind of dark so we didn't stay long!  The castle was really pretty though, so we will probably go back on a nicer day. Amanda and I just came home and hung out at the apartment.

The H is the stop for the bus, the red circle is the phone booth that is about 50 feet away.

The phone booth

The phone booth we stood in while waiting...... that we walked out of and watched the bus pass by since we were not standing under the bus sign (the H)!!!!!!!!!!
