First day of school!

We had our first day of school on Monday April 2!  The school is Weisßensee Kunsthochschule which stands for art high school.  It is a very nice school and has many different design and art departments.  It is located in the more "suburban" area of the city, but much different from any suburbs in Cincinnati!  It takes Amanda and I about 45 minutes to get to school, and we have class Monday through Thursday.  I am taking a studio class, which is Urban Mobility of 2012 which is a sponsored studio by Audi.  We will be working with Audi to create a system for connecting smart phones with automobiles!  As a part of this studio we will learn how to use Cinema 4D, a computer software program, and have a research theory class to go along with our Audi project.  Then as an extra we are going to enter into the coOLEDs competition, the object is to design a portable/mobile lighting solution using Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs).

This should be a very interesting and busy project!!! As a part of our project we are going to be traveling to another major city to do research, and my city is MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA!!!!!!  I am going with 3 other students and we will be there for 10 days (All paid for by Audi!!!!) The plane ride is 21 hours, that sounds pretty ridiculous but Australia should be amazing!  As for our class, we have 4 American students, 4 Taiwanese students, and 4 German students!  So it is a nice even mixture!

Getting on the U-bahn!

Then the tram
This is what it looks like inside the trams and buses.

Suburban area that we walk through to get to school!
Main hallway inside the school, there is a huge courtyard (as you can see on the left)
We are on the 4th floor
My professors office is right across from our studio room, he has this LED screen that displays our project and information that we need!  My professor is very intelligent and seems extremely fun and exciting!!!!

After class, Amanda and I went to Prenzlauer Berg with two other classmates and walked around to find a restaurant to eat lunch.  This is an old water tower.
We found this Italian restaurant and ate here!
While Amanda and I were on our way home from school, we saw a fresh market as we were getting on the subway.  There are a lot of fresh markets that we always stumble upon.
