London

Amanda and I went on our first trip together!  Luckily they all spoke English so everything worked out :)  We stayed in a youth hostel right outside of the city and we walked everywhere!!!!  Things were really expensive and it rained A LOT... but we had an awesome time and saw almost everything that we wanted to so I would say it was a successful trip :) Oh AND we were conveniently in London for the Queens Jubilee Festival!!!!!!

On the Tube!
verrrrrrry steep escalators
Our hostel
Just hanging out in the phone booth
We went into an English Pub the first day we got there, little did we know this was a place full of regulars and everyone was wondering who we were and where we were from! They were all really nice and an older man talked to us a lot and you could tell he practically lived in the pub :)
Mac and chesse with a salad
The older man asked us if we wanted our photo taken... then ran over to his friend (who used to be a professional photographer) and asked him if he could take one of us!
There were side walks lining the Thames river and really nice green areas
We had to cross the bridge to get to the main side of downtown
Lambeth Palace
House of Parliament

Amanda and I at the beginning of our walking excursion... to see as many sites a day as we could!!!

Big Ben clock tower

cool fountain, as you can see there were British flags everywhere!!!  In preparation for the Queens Jubilee

We went up in the London Eye!!!!!  It is a massive Ferris wheel with huge glass pods that you stand in and can get really pretty views of the city
Our pod
I am not going to lie I was a little scared... going close to the edge was  a little horrifying

Outside of the British Museum, we spent a lot of time in the museum they had some amazing things inside.  They have an awesome Egyptian, and Ancient Greek / Roman collection!
Rosetta Stone

They had a lot of mummies and exposed bodies showing how well the mummification process worked.  It was amazing how well they preserved the bodies. If you look closely you can see still see hair on this woman
Discus-thrower
Greek Gods
Frieze from the Pantheon
On our way from the museum to Trafalgar Square

There was a pie place that was in my lets go Europe book, we tried it out and it was pretty good but a little different.  I had a cheese and potato pie with gravy and mashed peas with mint.
Cute little area where we ate
The crowds were wild the day of the Jubilee!!!! There were so many people it was crazy.  Everyone was lining up by the Thames River to watch the Queen float down. I wish my pictures could capture how insanely crowded it was!
The boats at the beginning
Crazy British Lady

The Queens boat!!!!!!!!  If you look closely you can see her in white!!!!
London Tower Bridge

The Olympic Village
We went to the mall to get a view of the Olympic Village and were so exhausted at that point that we just sat in the food court for about an hour :p

London at night!

Sherlock Holmes!!!
There was a Chipolte.... we had to go

These are a few things from the Tate Modern Museum.  We also saw a special exhibit from Damien Hirst.  He made a platinum cast of a skull and then set 8,601 diamonds in it and added a set a real teeth!!!!!! It was really awesome, unfortunately no photos were allowed in that

Shakespeare Globe theater

We walked through Hyde Park

Kensington Palace

Since the Queens Jubilee was going on some things were closed and special events were going on.  We were unaware of the concert in front of Buckingham Palace and this was the best view we could get
